Our exclusive Sandcastle program offers a wide range of engaging, enjoyable activities for kids 5 -12—from learning about sea-life to trying some tennis, catching the ultimate wave to catching a movie.

Half and Full-Day Programs

The Sandcastle Kids Club is an exclusively designed activity program solely for St. Regis Resort, Monarch Beach younger guests. Our Kids Club offers an exciting schedule of energetic, creative and highly satisfying activities for children aged 5-12 years. All the games and excitement have been planned to provide optimum levels of entertainment and fun while nurturing each child's inquisitive and creative mind. To take advantage of the daily pursuits at the Sandcastle Kids Club, parents should meet with our attendants at 9:00am in the Sandcastle Kids Club located on 1st floor to complete a registration form. Children should come dressed to play and have a bathing suit. Every child that registers for a Full or Half Day Program, or any of our extracurricular enrichment activities, receives a complimentary St. Regis Kids-Getaway Kit! For evenings, Kidz Night Out is offered on Fridays from 6:00-10:00pm. Children can munch on pizza and ice-cream while watching movies, telling stories as well as making new friends. Please be aware that children must be in good health to attend the Sandcastle Kids Club or Kidz Night Out and parents must remain in the resort while children are enrolled in any of our programs.

Sandcastle Kids Club Schedule & Charges

• Open 7 days a week from 9:00am to 5:00pm and on Fridays from 6:00pm to 10:00pm.
• Children must be 5-12 years of age.
• 24-hour advance reservations required for both the Sandcastle Kids Club and Babysitting.

• Cancellation fee of $25 if notice is given less than 5 hours in advance of your scheduled time.

Wave-Riders

The St. Regis Resort, Monarch Beach is proud to offer the coolest kids activity around. Let your child learn how to Surf, Body Board or Body Surf, the best way, the only way, the Californian way! With the finest equipment provided, only the best and most enthusiastic instructors will be conducting classes down on the beach everyday with a reservation. To guarantee a place for your child, ensure you register in advance by contacting the concierge at extension 3271. Classes are conducted by the beach lifeguards for one to two hours in groups of up to 6 children. Times and availability are based on the lifeguard's schedule. Wave-riding is offered seven days a week.

Please note children must be in good health and have at least moderate swimming skills. No experience necessary. Classes are always tide-pending. Registration : $95 per child per hour.

Ocean Institute

Your day begins with an introduction to an Ocean Institute marine biologist who will accompany you throughout the day's adventures. Set a course for the open ocean as you head out to sea aboard the R/V Sea Explorer, the 70-foot floating laboratory. See local marine mammals, including bow-riding dolphins, whale species and sea lions. Learn about ocean ecology and collect weather data. Use video microscopes, touch tanks, aquariums and analyze plankton, deep sea sediment and benthic animals.

Back on shore, enjoy a picnic in the scenic park right at the water's edge and chat with the naturalist about the coastal plants and flowers. Participate in a tour of the tallship, Spirit of Dana Point and see labs, classrooms and aquariums. Last of all, feed the collection of hungry surf zone sharks and rays!

*The Ocean Institute program is offered only on Saturdays and Sundays.
General admission is $6.50 for adults and $4.50 children.

Water Exploration at the Ocean Institute
The R/V Sea Explorer is a 2 1/2 hour cruise offered only on Saturdays and Sundays during the summer months.
Cost is $25 for adults and $22 for children.

The Spirit of Dana Point cruise is a pirate-ship type venture on one of the tallships in Dana Point. Cost is $36 for adults and $30 for children.

Father/Son Tee

Spend some quality time with your son or father at the Monarch Beach Golf Links and improve your golf game at the same time.

Tennis Classes

For a special vacation at the St. Regis Resort, Monarch Beach, sign up your child for private tennis lessons with our tennis professional, Gary Dudic. Learn how to use forehand and backhand, and perhaps also to serve an ace!

Classes are for children ages 5 to 12 years. Fees are $110 per hour and $65 per half hour.

Children's Group Entertainment

Specific activities can be arranged for groups of 10 or more children and can be scheduled to run parallel to weekday conferences and weddings and include activities such as magic shows, sports, drama & theater, marine life, etiquette classes, cookie decorating, cooking classes, dinner with sundae specials, etc.

St. Regis Sitters

If your child is under the age of 5 and too young to participate in the Sandcastle Kids Club, Kidz Night Out or any of our extracurricular enrichment activities, we have a solution! We can arrange for a highly accredited sitter who would be delighted to care for your child in the convenience of your own guest room. The sitter will provide a program of fun activities for as long as you need them. All of the sitters are certified with CPR and First Aid qualifications, have extensive experience and just adore children.
